Jessica Enos is the president of AV Parents for Education, a group of community members out of the Antelope Valley. Like most far-right parent groups, they got their start by opposing public health masking requirements. The group’s mission statement is…

“We are a group of God-fearing parents and community members who strive to protect our children.”

This religious theme is evident in most of the work she does with AV Parents for Education, and it appears that the main goal of the group is to insert radical Christian fundamentalism into public schools and state legislature. Her group has been involved in many “parents’ rights” rallies and protests with other extremists, and they work to fight against California policies that protect and support transgender and LGBTQ+ students as a whole like the forced outing policy that has been passed around far-right school boards since 2023.

This article from 2021 shares a misleading quote from Enos regarding her views on accepting the LGBTQAI+ community…

“We don’t hate; we don’t discriminate against people’s life choices,” Enos said. “I can speak for myself as a Christian; we are called to love everyone.

However, SCEW has provided video where she expresses a different attitude, saying…

“God actually says to judge one another, according to the word of God.”-Enos

“The word of God calls this (LGBTQAI+) lifestyle an abomination.”-Enos

She also says people who affirm a transgender or non-binary student are…

“Manifesting their mental illness”-Enos

Suggesting that the state of being transgender is a mental illness is a running theme for the “parental rights” groups who fear the LGBTQAI+ community, and AV Parents for Education has shown to represent this hostile stance. AV Parents For Education has now joined forces with the Mom Army, another far-right astroturf group that claims children’s innocence is being stolen by the mere fact that LGBTQ+ children and there families are recognized in an inclusive enviornment within public schools.

Ties to Christian Nationalism

Enos’ radical views against the LGBTQAI+ community and her enthusiastic attempts to influence local politics with policy to adopt them is no surprise given her family is involved with a New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) church. NAR is a network of churches that believes in modern day apostles and seeks to restore the 7 mountain mandate, a theological paradigm to conquer the world for Christianity though 7 mountains of society including family, media, government  culture, arts, education business, and religion. This movement is also referred to as Christian dominionism, a group of Christian political ideologies that seek to institute a nation governed by Christians based on their understanding of biblical law. In this understanding, LGBTQ+ persons would not have a place in society.

Enos’s very own mother and father-in-law, Dr Robert and Linda Enos, are founders of Greater Works Christian Church (GWCC) in Lancaster, Ca. GWCC follows the 7 mountain mandate, and Dr. Robert Enos proclaims himself an Apostle on his Facebook Page.

In pure Christian dominionist fashion, as of 2024 Robert Enos has announced his campaign for a Lancaster city council position.

CEO Act: A Push To Defund Public Schools

The CEO Act is an potential initiative in California that seeks to implement a school voucher/school choice program. The conservative push for these programs in red states have gained a lot of attention recently given there are now many studies that show these programs have disastrous consequences on test scores. However, if implemented, this initiative will drastically impact the state’s public education system and either cause a significant decrease in funding or raise taxes. Enos, who is a strong supporter of the CEO Act, has been actively promoting the program by distributing flyers and speaking about its benefits at rallies, school board meetings, Instagram, and protests.

In a video Enos posted, she outlines how the CEO Act is the answer to ultimately de-fund the California public education system, confirming the true consequences of educational savings accounts and school voucher programs.

On November 15th, 2023, Enos attended the William S. Hart School District meeting to support the boards consideration of the Parental Notification policy out of Chino Valley School District (Read more about this policy in our blog) being introduced to different school districts by conservative groups all across California.

This policy targets transgender students, and even though Enos homeschools her children, she is well known to show up to school districts all across SoCal to show her support of the policy.

After the meeting she posted a video expressing her religious convictions against the LGBTQIA+ community.

Enos might claim to be a true Christian who is called to “love everyone”, but her own words reveal her disgust and rejection of LGBTQAI+ persons having a place in our society. If the Enos clan was in power, LGBTQ+ rights would not exist.
